Our Story
Present News was created to raise awareness about hate crimes through unbiased storytelling while simultaneously shedding light on various cultures. Modern day has witnessed an exponential increase in the number of hate crimes that are solely based on something that is a part of who we are. Our goal is to uncover the facts to promote awareness and prevent future victims. People's voices need to be heard, and Present News strives to be that medium through which people can express themselves.

About the Founder
Present News is an online student-run magazine founded by Jiayue Zou. Zou is a junior and aspiring journalist at McLean High School. Growing up as an Asian-American, she always had an underlying feeling that she was different, regardless of whether it was culture or appearance. Only as she grew older and began paying attention to the news did she recognize the impact of being different. Realizing the power of journalism in disseminating information and awareness, coupled with local anti-Asian activity, sparked the motivation to create Present News, with the hope of bringing about change and inspiring others to do the same.
